Just got finished with a real nice jazz session at the studio with Seth, Jane and Nelson of the Opus 3 jazz trio.  I met Seth while I was doing the Mayercraft with Soulive last year.  These cats are living the good life playing music and traveling all over the world.  I’m really glad they could make it into the studio, it was a great hang.

3 days at Playonbrother Studios and the new Soulive album is half done.  This has been the best recording session in Soulive history, hands down!  We have been in there writing, vibing, recording and mixing some new tunes that are the culmination of our 10 years together.  After the first session was finished we left the studio for a weekend of shows in Boston and Portland.  We rocked the new tunes in the van on repeat the whole weekend. We really think that everyone from the oldest of the old school to the brand new Soulive fan is going to have the same experience.  Stay tuned for more pics, video, and music from these sessions.

Seth Glier - The Trouble With People coming this fall

 I had the great pleasure of working with singer songwriter Seth Glier last month.  It’s so nice to work with someone who really wants to connect with people on an intellectual and emotional level with their music.  It’s really needed these days when so many people want to connect with a image or a product.  Seth has written and performed some great music and I was really excited to be a part of this album.  We mixed it over a couple of days.

Chris T & The Business - Violet Skies

So a new album that was recorded and mixed at Playonbrother Studios just dropped.  Chris T. & The Business came out from Chicago, IL not to long ago and we had a lot of fun working on this music.

I’m decompressing from a long weekend of satisfying mixing. I just got finished recording and mixing a band Autumn Armor that has been in and out of the studio for the past few weeks. This EP of theirs came out really great. Towards the end of the mix last night, Ben said that so many people really don’t know how much work goes into 20 minutes of music. It was a lot of work, long days and nights but we had an amazing time. Ben, Colin and Jon make an awesome band and I can’t wait for people to hear what they have done. I can’t wait to work on the next Autumn Armor session.

I just had a great session today at Playonbrother Studios.  Neal was in today cutting horns for his new breakbeat album with Sam Kininger and Rich Graiko from The Void Union.  This album is going to be ridiculous and the horns for it came out amazing.  Not really sure when it’s coming out but it will be worth the wait.  Here are a few pics from the session.
